Awarded for completing Build Versus Buy in Security Engineering and passing its exam, demonstrating the ability to reframe the decision around obligations over a five year horizon, cost a build including maintenance, hardening, evidence and key person risk, cost a purchase including selection, migration, adoption, internal ownership and the exit, apply the four deciding questions with evidence rather than assertion, score a domain's rate of change and match staffing to it, recognise and choose between the hybrid options the binary framing hides, state the honest case for building and attach the five commitments that make a build succeed, run a defensible decision in a week with a sensitivity check that identifies what to establish next, set a review point with trigger conditions written in advance, and recognise, assess and put down an unowned internal tool.
Certificates are designed to be checked, not just displayed.
The credential is valid for 12 months from issue. Its public page states the expiry date, and renewing means passing the current exam again — so the credential always reflects the current material.
